Fayose To Destroy Illegal Structures In Ado Ekiti To Give Way For Flyover ( Photos)

Ekiti State government will from Monday 12th of September 2016 commence the demolition of illegal structures along Bashiri/Fajuyi road in Ado-Ekiti the state capital to give way for the road expansion brought about by the construction of the 1.2km Fajuyi/Ojumose flyover.


The State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose made this known on Monday while speaking with pressmen after he visited some of the marked structures along Bashiri, Ado Ekiti.

He said, "they are marked already for demolition, they are illegal structures on setbacks, there are regulations guiding where houses should start from, the measurements to the road and center of the road, it is 100ft depending, in line with this act, we have to take action from Monday because this dualisation needs this space for them to finish their work.

"So, demolition starts from Monday unfailingly. Anybody with a structure other than a permanent structure within the act that says you must have a setback of 100ft from the center of the road should remove it. The moment yours doesn't fall within that, there is nothing to pay, anything outside that, we will pay and we will duly pay".

In a similar development, governor Fayose has promised traders in Fayose Market the construction of more shops. He made the promise during a visit to the market on Monday to check compliance with a directive by the state government that all containers be removed.

"It is wrong for traders to block walkways with containers, the interest of a trader is not enough to override the interest of everybody in the market. The system must be respected, the activities must be moderated and the people here should obey laws. After the removal, we are building more shops just to make sure more decent spaces are available for goods and products' sale", the governor said.
