An Spanish town is flooded in red, with sweet smell tomato juice covering everywhere. This year on August 31, over 22,000 people have consumed 160 tons of tomatoes during the festival.
La Tomatina is an annual festival that takes place in the Valencian town of Buñol, Spain. It is a game where people all get in a tomato fight purely for entertainment purpose.
On each last Wednesday of August almost triple times the population of the town would gather here for this entertaining event. Participants need to pay 10 Euros for joining the game.
The origin of this tradition remains unknown. People have different opinions and stories behind it, from joking games to political protests. Yet the fun has been remained.
